ZIPPO

Zippo was the first game I developed for a commercial product. It came together over a 1 year period, working towards a final polished product that could show my skills within all aspects of game development.

This being my first published game, this experience allowed me to learn presenting a product. I was able to learn asset creation for Steam's website, creating a professional look.

I utilized the use of GIFs within marketing to bring movement. This created more eye-catching visuals than a static image, while showing the general gameplay.

Using Adobe Illustrator, I created marketing assets using a simple art style. This allowed for the marketing to reflect the art within the game better.

The music was made within FL Studio, using retro sounds. Automation was added to give a dynamic feeling to the music, and to allow for the track to loop seemlessly.

All programming was done by me within the game engine Construct 3.

All art was done by me within Construct 3. To keep the scope of the game small, I went for a simple art style.

All audio was created by me within FL Studio, using SFXR to create sound effects. This gave the game the retro-feel I was aiming for.

EXTRA INSIGHT

This game began as the first game I created. After a few other projects, I revisited the idea and expanded it into the final game I released.

Many iterations of the game were made, testing out various ideas through playtesting with friends.
